Buying has become the greater part of what we do. After four generations in the trade and twenty-five years under our own name, our interest lies in finding good objects rather than in holding a large stock. If you own something that falls within the fields below, we should like to hear from you.
What we look for
Chinese and Japanese porcelain and works of art, in particular from the Ming and Qing dynasties: blue and white, famille verte, famille rose, Imari, armorial and export wares, and objects made for the European market.
European antiques, especially Dutch and French: Delftware and tiles, furniture, mirrors and clocks.
Silver and gold, Dutch and European.
Paintings, watercolours and drawings, in particular Dutch nineteenth-century work.
A single object and an entire collection are both of interest.
How it works
Send us a few photographs by email, with the dimensions and anything you know about where the object came from. Photographs of any marks on the base, and of damage or restoration, help a great deal.
We will tell you whether the object is of interest to us and, if it is, what we are prepared to pay for it. If it is not something for us, we will say so plainly rather than leave you waiting.
We should be clear about one thing: an offer from a dealer is not a valuation. We tell you what we would pay, which is what a buyer pays, not what an insurer or an auction house would put on it. If you need a formal valuation, that is a different service and we will say so.
Why us
Egbert Ott Antiques is the fourth generation of a family that has been in fine art and antiques since 1890. Over the years we have sold to international antique dealers, private collectors and museums.
